There is no question that burying ducts in insulation saves energy. But how deep is deep enough? I found an article that discusses that topic. Turns out that covering a duct insulated to R-13 with 7 inches of cellulose gives a total value of R-38. The 7 inches of cellulose provides a value of R-25. Of course, as always, the ducts should be air-tight to achieve that insulation value. You can check out the article here.
