I’m putting together a solar system for my house, and to save money, I’m wondering if it is feasible to build my own solar panels.

Yes! It is quite feasible to make your own solar panels if you are comfortable building a frame, mounting and wiring the photovoltaic cells and installing the system. You can find inexpensive cells at Alibaba.com or eBay. Using higher quality parts will result in a longer life panel. Cost will increase if you embed the cells in a protective silicon compound and use tempered glass for strength, but done right, you should get over 20 years life from a panel. Check out YouTube for some creative and great ideas to get started.
